Business Gateway are running “How to reach more customers” a workshop specifically for craft businesses that are looking to develop their business in Oban (14 April) and Dunoon (21 April).
The workshop will help you develop and reach more customers profitably, increasing the scale of your business and widen your markets. It covers understanding your market and competitors, pricing, choosing where to sell, using social media, making an impact at craft fairs, building networks and collaborating with other craft businesses.
Feedback for this workshop has been great. Attendees find the workshop very informative, full of advice and information, lots of tips on how to promote your business and increase sales, plenty of opportunities to interact and ask questions and a great chance to network with other crafters.
Jack Redpath of Redpath Marketing will be delivering this workshop for us. Jack has 30 years’ experience of working with small businesses, focusing on helping them create suitable marketing strategies to develop and grow.
If you would like to attend this workshop please contact the Business Gateway team on 01546 604555 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or you can book online athttp://www.bgateway.com/events?region=argyll-and-bute&keywords

Call for nominations for Argyll & Bute Volunteer of the Year Awards 2016
Our Volunteer of the Year awards will be held this year on Friday 16Th September at The Argyllshire Gathering Halls in Oban
These nominations are fantastically important for everyone – not least for the amazing cash prizes and the recognition that comes with them.
As well as the shield for volunteer of the year, there is a separate Sargus Memorial Travel prize of £1000 given to an outstanding volunteer. In previous years the winner has used it to travel abroad to visit international examples of their work. Others take a well-deserved wee break to recharge their batteries.
Organisations too can benefit from a £500.00 cash prize, with runner up prizes of £250 each, which can really support a small but vital organisation with its work. It can be used to match other funds or sow the seeds of a new project. The press recognition that comes with the prize can help raise the profile of an organisation and demonstrate to funders and its other stakeholders that the organisation is achieving local recognition and impact.
So while we know that voluntary organisations and their volunteers are by their very nature modest in the extreme – once a year it’s time to shout about our achievements and give a pat on the back to those who touch so many lives in many, individual ways.
Nomination forms are available at your local Argyll TSI office, Please email completed form to Shirley@argylltsi.org.uk
Call our Head Office on 01631 564839 or email on Shirley@argylltsi.org.uk if you want any help with your form.

It is with great disappointment that Woolfeis 2016 will have to be cancelled; Jill is still the main person organising events, and while she had hoped to pick up enough time after caring for her mother before her death some weeks ago, she has just had an operation. With the weeks of recovery ahead, and the unknown of how her fibromyalgia will respond, and too small a team of lovely volunteers to pick up the organisation this year, it is best that we concentrate on 2017 to make that even better than before.
The hall is booked, and the market is planned on the Thursday – SOOO .. if anyone wants to have a FUN Informal Fibrous Get Together on the Friday or Saturday that would be great, let me know and I will keep the bookings .. also any one locally who was planning workshops, make sure we get all the details so we can promote them to locals and visitors in the area.
(and we have already had a positive response to having some informal fibre fun .. so keep on sharing .. and see you then.. )
join us all the year on our Woolfeis Facebook Group – https://www.facebook.com/groups/woolfeis/
Deborah Grey is running a Fibre prep and Drop spindle spinning in Oban on Sat 23rd July (contact Deborah Grey )
